Tosot KJ350G

Tosot Air Purifier Review – Features

The Tosot KJ350G air purifier model comes with some impressive features to its name. These are:

A powerful 4-stage filtering system. In addition to your regular 3-stage filtration system that consists of a pre-filter, activated carbon filter, and HEPA filter, you also get UV-C sterilization as an additional cleaning method. Pre-filter takes care of the largest pollutants, activated carbon filter removes smells & odors, and HEPA filter does the majority of small particle cleaning. Not many other air purifiers come with an addition of UV-C light. It is mainly used to kill harmful bacteria, viruses, and other smallest pathogens, most of which are usually too small for HEPA filters to effectively remove. The UV-C light is completely optional, can be turned on or off, and has wavelengths between 200 – 280 nanometers (nm).

Rich control panel with adjustable settings. You get a variety of settings that you can play around with. You can choose between 3 different speeds (low, high, turbo), depending on your cleaning needs. A standard filter replacement indicator is included as well, which tells you when it is time to replace the filter. Expect to do filter replacement after 6-8 months of continuous use of the Tosot air purifier. On the control panel, you also get a sleep mode setting, UV-C light on/off button, automatic mode, and a built-in air quality indicator.

Auto-filtration mode. This is a great feature to have on any air purifier. This auto mode enables you to take a hands-free air cleaning approach. Simply turn on the button and let the machine do the heavy lifting. When you turn this setting on, the machine will take over and adjust your settings automatically, based on the air quality of the air in your room.

Tosot Air Purifier Review – Pros & Cons

Just like any other air purifier, Tosot comes with its own set of pluses and minuses. We will explain and elaborate on each of our bullet points here, so you can understand the reasoning behind selections. We try to make these as objective as possible, combining our findings and analysis with other users’ experiences.

Pros

High-quality HEPA filter. Tosot air purifier KJ350G uses a grade H13 true HEPA filter. So, what does this mean? H13 and H14 HEPA filters belong in the top tier. In other words, you are getting a high-quality HEPA filter, which is much more effective at air cleaning than other, lower-graded filters. An H13 HEPA filter actually captures 99,97% of particles as small as 0.1 microns.

Optional UV-C light. as it complements the whole air cleaning process by dealing with microorganisms. These UV-C lights do not work as well on individual machines as they do together with other devices. They usually lack the means to trap the organisms, which is something that a HEPA filter can provide. Basically, UV-C light and HEPA filters work in symbiosis.

Smart mode. We really love it when an air purifier comes with some form of automatization, especially at this price point. Automatic/smart mode means that you can just press this button and go about your day. By enabling this option you save energy, money, and any worry you might have regarding optimal settings. Tosot’s air purifier auto-filtration mode works hand in hand with an advanced air quality monitor, so if the machine detects that the air in your room is of bad quality, it will automatically change the settings accordingly. This way you get the optimal cleaning results throughout the day. And since the air quality indicator is touchable, you can clean it every now and then, ensuring that you continue to get accurate air quality readings.

Cons

A small amount of ozone. TOSOT KJ350G Air Purifier generates a small amount of ozone. While it does comply with the maximum allowable concentration of ozone (below 0.050 ppmv), it still does pose a potential health hazard. The manufacturer does not specify the exact amount, only that it is within limits. Small children and people with any kind of respiratory problems (allergies, asthma, …) are exposed even more, as ozone can affect them in even smaller quantities.

Noisy at max fan speed. The company lists only noise on the lowest settings, which is 32 dB. This is slightly above the average for similarly priced items, which is not the issue. There is no information about the noise level on max fan speed. We estimate it to be around 55-60 dB, which is quite high and can be disturbing on occasion. Therefore, if you are a light sleeper avoid putting it in the bedroom as you might have a hard time falling asleep.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Very effective air cleaning
  • Adjustable settings
  • Flexible due to small size
  • Budget-friendly
Cons
  • Limited cleaning range
  • Activated carbon filter could be better
  • Can be a bit noisy

Tosot Air Purifier Review – Conclusion

The Tosot KJ350G Air Purifier is a very solid choice for anyone looking to improve their home air quality, without having to break the bank. A top-tier HEPA filter, combined with the UV-C light, provides you with great cleaning results. Additionally, the automatic mode makes sure that you have the most optimal settings, at all times. An accurate real-time air quality indicator lets you see the air cleaning progress, but do not worry – you can feel it in the room as well! This is a great mid-tier air purifier that will satisfy anyone looking for strong air cleaning ability.

The biggest issue you face with Tosot Air Purifier KJ350G is the occasional noise if the fan is running at high speed. You can lower the fan speed but lose some performance. The other issue we listed was ozone, which we conclude comes from the UV-C light. Luckily, you can always turn this function off to prevent ozone from being generated.

Lastly, we want to touch on the room coverage. Tosot Air Purifier will cover 450 square feet, which is honestly good for this price range. It also comes with a CADR rating of 200 CFM which is average. Also, we note that this air purifier is 310 sq ft AHAM rated. AHAM rates room coverage based on their own formula (CFM x 1.55), which is why they listed 310 sq ft and not 450 sq ft like Tosot. As a result, we recommend using it in large rooms of up to 450 sq ft mostly if your main problem is dust. Otherwise, stick to medium-sized rooms of up to 310 sq ft, especially if you have respiratory issues.
