Renpho Hepa Air Purifier – features

This device comes with some impressive features. These are:

Coverage of up to 330 square feet. It comes with a CADR rate of 147 CFM (250 m³/h). CADR rate is short for “clean air delivery rate”, which is measured by CFM “cubic feet per minute”. So CFM basically measures the amount of air that has had all the particles of a given size distribution removed. We will not complicate this part too much, but a CADR rate of 147, which is just slightly below the optimal number for 330 square feet. In other words, the device refreshes the air up to 3x in a single hour.

5 stage filtration system. This is an advanced filtration system that consists of a pre-filter, charcoal filter, advanced carbon filter, antibacterial coating, and a true HEPA filter. Pre-filter is the first stage and its role is to capture only the biggest particles. A charcoal filter has the role of absorbing dust and inanimate particulates. Active carbon filter deals with odors and gases. As suggested by the name, antibacterial coating removes germs and bacteria. Lastly, there is an H13 HEPA filter that removes the vast majority (99,7%) of all pollutants that are up to 0.3 microns small. H13 means that the HEPA filter belongs in the highest tier, which is the most powerful/effective one. Good enough to even alleviate symptoms of allergies and asthma, as it removes allergens from the air.

Smart Auto Mode & Air quality Light indicator. Who does not like more automation? Auto mode is, as the name suggests, a hands-free option for running the device. You simply select the option and technology makes sure that the settings update in real-time, according to changes in air quality. Pretty neat! There is also a light switch which is always welcome if you plan to put the air purifier in your bedroom.

Intuitive control panel with different settings. In case you suffer from allergies or asthma you are covered, as the device comes with Individual settings for allergies and an included timer. You are also able to manually control the fan speed and operating time. If you want to conserve some energy at night you can simply set the timer to stop the device after a fixed amount of hours have passed. A great feature for customization purposes based on personal needs. There is also a child lock button that prevents children from accidentally changing the settings, which is always a welcome addition.

Pros and cons

Next, we are going to take a look at some of the positives as well as negatives of Renpho Hepa Air Purifier. This is an important thing to take into consideration when deciding to buy an air purifier, so we hope it will serve to make your decision easier.

Pros

Advanced filtration system. Many air purifiers with a similar price point come with a more basic filtration system that consists of a pre-filter, HEPA filter, and active carbon filter. With the addition of a charcoal filter and antibacterial coating, you can expect even more efficient cleaning. And cleaner air clean equals overall better health. A big plus here is also the fact that this specific HEPA filter is grade H13, which is the highest tier. Most HEPA filters fall in the H10-H12 category, which is not as effective as H13 when it comes to removing harmful air particles.

Automation button and an air quality indicator. We are a big fan of having an option to automate things when you have a device that comes with customizable settings. This way you can simply press the button and let the machine take over the rest. We also love that there is an air quality sensor installed in the device. It monitors the quality of air in real-time and adjusts other settings accordingly. So if it detects bad air quality it increases the fan speed and filter settings etc.

Built-in timer function. Not much more to say here, many air purifiers do not have a timer, which is a shame. It allows you to set off the device after a set amount of time (2h, 4h, 8h). This allows you to conserve energy when you are either away or not planning to use the air purifier for an extended time.

Does not produce any ozone. Very important because ozone is harmful to us humans, even in small quantities. There is an acceptable level of ozone that devices are allowed to produce, but you are much better of sticking to something that is ozone-free.

Cons

Can be noisy. There are 4 different fan speed settings that you can select. They range from 35 dB (Sleep mode) up to 52dB (highest speed). For some comparison: 40 dB is the sound of light rain/refrigerator/bird calls, and 50 dB is library/moderate rain/conversation at home. So sometimes when you need peace or when you go to sleep you need to turn down the fan speed in order for the noise to not disturb you. And lowering the fan speed means that you sacrifice some of the effectiveness. We wrote more on air purifiers and noise here.

Filters need to be replaced. Just like any other device that uses filters, they need to be replaced, quite often. The pre-filter is washable which eliminates one filter, but you still have 3 other filters that you need to replace (charcoal, carbon, and HEPA). Also, you need to buy them in a set, you can not purchase them individually as of writing this. On average, expect to change the filters at least every 6 months.

Not very portable. This is an air purifier that you can not simply take everywhere with you. It takes up a bit of space (dimensions are 23.5 x 17.9 x 10.9 ) and it weighs 20 pounds which is not the easiest to move around the apartment/house all the time.

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Good filtration system
  • Smart features
  • Timer function
  • No ozone production
Cons
  • Can get noisy
  • Expensive filter replacement
  • Bulky

Renpho Hepa Air Purifier – conclusion

Taking everything into consideration, this is a very good air purifier for its price point. We recommend it for any room up to 300 square feet. The decent amount of settings makes this device very flexible in terms of individual needs. The “auto” button is great for a simple hands-off approach where you just press the button and go about your day. This air purifier is very good at removing dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and odors. The advanced filtration system with antibacterial coating makes sure that you get to breathe quality air. The air quality indicator is also a great addition in any air purifier, as you can see results in real-time.

The max fan setting can sometimes feel a little bit noisy, but that can be adjusted with a simple button. You do lose a little bit of effectiveness in the process, but not that much honestly. The timer function offers you a lot of flexibility and can save you quite a bit of energy. Filters last quite a long and do not need to be replaced as often as some other comparable air purifiers. All in all, Reno Hepa Air Purifier model AP002 is an amazing choice for anyone looking to reliably improve their air quality, and not break their bank in the process. Keep in mind that it is best suited for individual rooms and can lose some effectiveness in large rooms or open spaces.

We hope you liked our Renpho Hepa Air Purifier review and that it helped you decide if this device is a good fit for you.
