Pure Enrichment Purezone 3-in-1 True Hepa Air Purifier Review

Pure enrichment purezone 3-in-1 air purifier features

Despite having a relatively cheap price tag, this Purezone air purifier comes with a decent amount of useful features for its cost. These are the most important ones:

3-stages of filtration. This is pretty much a standard for the majority of air purifiers of this price range. The filtration system consists of a pre-filter, activated carbon filter and a true HEPA filter. Pre-filter is at the very start of the cleaning process and is there to capture only the largest particles. Carbon-activated filter is specifically designed to capture smells and odors. The HEPA filter is the main filter that does the heavy lifting and captures the smaller, usually most harmful particles. Filters last up to around 6 months.

Built-in UV-C light. This is a pretty neat feature that many air purifiers in this price range do not have. What does a UV-C light do? In short, it is a reliable method of disinfection. It is effective against bacteria, spores, mold, and other microorganisms.

No ozone byproduct. Since this product uses filters and not negative ions to clean the air, it releases no ozone. Ozone generators and the majority of air ionizers have ozone as a byproduct. This is not that great because ozone is bad for our respiratory system and can cause a whole lot of health complications. Children and the elderly are even more exposed to the harmful effects of ozone.

Up to 200 square feet of cleaning radius. It comes with a CADR rate of 80 CFM. CADR rate is short for “clean air delivery rate”, which is measured by CFM “cubic feet per minute”. So CFM basically measures the amount of air that has had all the particles of a given size distribution removed. A rule of thumb is that you need about 100 CFM for every 250 square feet of space. This means that 80 CFM is good enough for cleaning 200 square feet.

Control panel with adjustable settings. You can adjust the fan speed (3 levels), set an automatic timer (2,4,8 ur), filter indicator, UV-C light, and night mode. Fan speed produces 30 dB of noise (low setting), 40 dB of noise (medium setting), and 50 dB (high setting).

Pros & Cons

Pros
  • Added UV-C light
  • Great customer service
  • Rich control panel
  • Small size that brings flexibility
Cons
  • Some filter issues
  • Weak fan

Next, we are going to take a look at some of the positives as well as negatives of Pure Enrichment Purezone 3-in-1 air purifiers. This is an important thing to take into consideration when deciding to buy an air purifier. Let’s dive right in!

Pros

Portable. We always like devices that you can take with you or easily transport around. If you are going away somewhere for a few days or moving around a lot, you can always take Purezone with you. Its dimensions are 10.8 x 7 x 12.5 inches and it weighs only 6 pounds and comes with a convenient built-in handle.

Effective and durable UV-C light. Many users experience great results with the added UV-C light features. Microorganisms are usually the most dangerous “air particles” and UV-C light specializes in exactly that. As a result, many users report alleviated allergy symptoms, noticeable air quality improvement, and a feeling of freshness. The bulb has a lifespan of 20.000 hours, so you can expect to use it for at least 5 years before having to change it.

Adjustable settings. We are always a fan of air purifiers that can be personalized based on your needs. The control panel is very intuitive, looks great, and offers quite a bit in terms of settings. There are many combinations possible, so we are sure you can find a perfect one for any situation. Time settings also enable you to conserve quite a bit of energy over time.

Stellar customer service. If you ever have any problem with this device, you can expect to solve it quickly with Pure Enrichment customer service. Their customer service is absolutely amazing, even if you call them for some basic information.

Cons

Filter issues. The biggest issue here is the activated carbon filter, which is not as lasting as the HEPA filter, yet integrated into it. This means that you can not replace them separately. Two issues arise from this – either you have to change filters much more often (HEPA filter lasts up to 6 months) or sacrifice some cleaning functions, namely odors and smells in this case. The pre-filter also comes with some possible downfalls. Its material is not very durable and you can quickly damage it, so keep that in mind.

Not that quiet + a weak fan. The noise increases with fan size and spans from 30 dB (lowest setting) up to 50 dB (highest setting). The noise can get a little bit out on the higest fan speed setting, especially if you use the purifier in your bedroom. Since the fan is quite small it needs to spin faster to push enough air out. This means that each time you lower the fan speed you sacrifice some of the cleaning effectiveness. This change can be noticeable if you are using the unit in a medium-sized room (200 square feet) instead of a smaller one. Even on the lowest settings, there is a small humming sound present, which most other air purifiers do not have.

Pure enrichment purezone 3-in-1 air purifier – conclusion

Purezone has come out with a very intriguing air purifier. It comes with good features but falls short by a little bit in some areas. The combined powers of a 3-step filtration system + UV-C light give it really good cleaning capabilities. If you want to effectively get rid of harmful particles in the air, as well as lessen any allergy or asthma symptoms … this device is certainly a great choice for the price. If you have odor problems, then you are at a crossroads – you will have to either change filters sooner than 6 months (extra costs) or have limited effectiveness some of the time (when the activated carbon filter wears out).

The elegant control panel enables you to change the settings according to your wishes and needs. Sadly there is no automatic mode, which would have been a great addition. The coverage area of this unit is 200 square feet, but we recommend using it for a smaller room in order to experience it at its best. 200 square feet can be a bit challenging to cover with such a small fan, especially if you are not using the highest fan settings.

All in all, this is a good budget-friendly, yet quite powerful air purifier. It is best used in smaller rooms, where it has the opportunity to shine.
